Blue charity day!

Staff from the Maples held a cake sale to raise money for a local Ferryhill charity called Little Treasures. Staff and pupils dressed in blue and managed to raise £82 ?

Skiing at Sunderland!!

The Year 10 & 11 pupil’s have been going to skiing lessons at Sunderland. This is a 10 week course and popular with pupils. Photo’s to follow soon!

KS4 Gardening Project

The Maples staff and pupils have decided to do a Garden Project. So are planning to plant Veg plots and Flowers, Tidy and create wildlife habitats, Litter pick outside and around the school. The pupils have been collecting materials and donations from people to create our garden area. We have started planting already and have a project group on a Friday to do the project.

A big thank you to Beech Tree Garden Centre for donating the compost!

AQA Unit Award Certificates

A massive well done to the girls from Hair and Beauty who have been awarded their first set of AQA unit award certificates.

Winter Planning

In the event of winter snow warnings, and the distance some pupils have to travel to and from the Woodlands, it may be necessary to arrange early transport from school on occasions and it is VERY important that school have up-to-date contact details for parents / carers

The decision to arrange early transport is not taken lightly and is only taken when there is risk to the safety of students

We would like to inform parents and carers, pupils, staff and governors that Ofsted will be inspecting our school on the 15 June 2016.

For further information please view or download the Letter to Parents below (dated 14 June 2016 )which also includes information about Parent View.

Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of your child’s school, including the progress made by your child, the quality of teaching, how the school deals with bullying and poor behaviour. It also provides a free-text box for you to make additional comments, if you wish. Please complete the online survey by 11:00am on 15 June 2016

As of 1st September 2015 we  re-branded as ‘The Woodlands’.

Key-stage 3 & 4 in Ferryhill are known as The Elms and The Maples, and our first Primary base, The Willows,  is at Langley Park Primary School and as of Easter 2016, our second Primary base, The Beeches, was opened at Broom Cottages Primary School.
