Careers Guidance Years 7 – 11

Does your son/daughter have plans after Year 11? Durham Works offers training, work placements, jobs, guidance and more to 16-24 year olds in County Durham who aren’t in education, employment or training. Get in touch for more info at www.durhamworks.info

At the Woodlands we are committed to making sure that all our young people leave with the skills to survive in the ever changing world outside of school whether that be in a post 16 establishment or the world of work.

We offer careers guidance in life skills and PSHE lessons for years 7-11. All key stage 4 pupils are given an independent careers interview from career wave; they also have access to dedicated mentors who can offer impartial advice for post 16.

Careers Programme

The Careers Team within the Maples meet on a regular basis to develop, monitor, and evaluate CEAIG across the school. Progress towards the Gatsby Benchmark is evaluated using the online Compass tool (as recommended in Careers guidance and access for education and training providers January 2018). Pupil voice records and measures the impact of the careers programme, impact is also measured in uptake of post 16 options and decrease in % of NEET’s.

The published information will be reviewed termly and the policy yearly
